Living In Character

Each time we are born here on Earth we take on a new role to explore, much like an actor takes on a new role for a film or a play.

Each lifetime requires that we step fully into the role. All the elements of the lifetime are constructed in service to the role—identity, history, relationships, motivation, education, career, etc.

To ensure full immersion in the identity and role, we leave a large part of ourselves behind in spirit. Using the acting metaphor again, this is not unlike an actor who chooses to “live in character" on and off camera to ensure a thorough understanding of the role as well as an accurate portrayal.

Expanding even further, we are all born into families and have relationships with others who are living their characters at the very same time that we are. Everyone in this world, in fact, is living in character. And collectively, we build the plot lines of the dramas, tragedies and comedies we know as life.

As we open up to our spirituality and explore our Self, we learn to study our role to better understand our character’s motivations and reasons for actions.

We learn to quiet our mind so we can hear who/what lives behind our character’s thoughts.

We learn that we have been living in roles developed by and enacted specifically for our Soul.

We relish the freedom that comes from releasing attachments to our assumed roles.

We realize life is a big wonderful game that we get to play over and over again.
