The Ultimate Gift to Your Self

As you journey through life, you will no doubt be tempted to find great fault in yourself.

Yes, there is always the opportunity to become wiser, kinder, more compassionate, more fearless, more organized, more expansive—whatever your own marker is.

And yet, to berate your Self serves no one, including you. You have returned to grow in specific ways and gain new understandings through various experiences. You can’t get this wrong.

There are 2 secrets to navigating this journey well.

1) You’ve got to be who you really are. If you’re not, you’ll be miserable. Even if others don’t like who you are or keep telling you you’re wrong. Stand solidly in your knowing of your Self. You are your own compass and your own North Star.

2) Love who you are. Appreciate who you are. Find joy in who you are. Be compassionate with who you are. Show the utmost respect for who you are.

Three quotes when in doubt:

"Remember always that you not only have the right to be an individual, you have an obligation to be one."
—Eleanor Roosevelt

"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment."
—Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Loving yourself… does not mean being self-absorbed or narcissistic, or disregarding others. Rather it means welcoming yourself as the most honored guest in your own heart, a guest worthy of respect, a lovable companion."
—Margo Anand
