Teachers Among Us
People have asked me how I’m able to channel, to see others’ past lives, and to connect with angels and guides. From my perspective, five elements came together for it to happen: writing, stillness, listening, trust, and teachers.
I am where I am on this path because of others who’ve gone before. They’d started their journey earlier than I, and generously provided information to help those of us who came after.
"If we know anything about a path at all, it's only because of the Great ones that have gone before us. Out of their love and kindness, they have left some footprints for us to follow. So, in the same way that they wish for us, we wish that all beings everywhere, including ourselves, be safe, be happy, have good health, and enough to eat. And may we all live at ease of heart with whatever comes to us in life.” - Krishna Das
I received my first reading in 1993 and committed to this path in 1997. The worldwide web, while in its infancy, was coming online and enabled spiritual information to be more widely available than ever before.
The doors to others’ esoteric writings, guidance, practices and businesses were open and I consumed the information voraciously: angels, guides, ascended masters, ancients, ancestors, past lives, future lives, concurrent lives, Native American practices, Buddhist practices, astrology, numerology, tarot, palmistry, prayers, affirmations, intentions, presence, trust, love—pretty much anything and everything related to spirituality.
Here are a few thing I’ve learned about teachers over the years:
1) Look for a person whose heart has been opened. The sharings should come from the heart, not the head; you can tell the difference.
2) You should feel better about yourself after being with this person. I’ve had a few experiences where I felt anxious, shamed or energetically beaten up after a session and never connected with them again.
3) Stretch yourself, but also know that this path unfolds in layers or levels. If you’re drawn to someone but don’t quite resonate with what they say, try them again in a year or two. For example, there’s an astrologer I follow closely and read most of what he shares, but he’d been on my radar for at least 5 years before I could understand his writings.
4) Trust that you will always be led to the perfect next person/area of study. When you’re ready, they will most certainly show up in your life in the best possible way. How cool is that??
