Listening

People have asked me how I’m able to channel, to see others’ past lives, and to connect with angels and guides.  From my perspective, five elements came together for it to happen: writing, stillness, listening, trust, and teachers.

Listening is an act of receiving information.

We can hear all day long, but hearing isn’t listening.  Hearing is passive; listening is active. It’s setting aside what you already know to receive otherness.

There’s no judgement—neither hearing or listening is wrong or right; they are different.

We all switch between the two every day depending on our circumstances. We hear songs as background music or as soul searing invocations. We hear a bird chirp or we listen to a multi-layered communication stream within a flock of sparrows.

When we’re on the spiritual path, we’re not going to hear it happen. We’re going to listen for it happening.

All of the insights and understandings I’ve gained over these past 30ish years on this path have happened because I got out of my own way, my own agenda and listened for what was actually there.  Even if I didn’t like it or agree with it.

We listen for what’s behind our thoughts and beliefs.  We listen for a nudge to guide us.  We listen for a bigger picture understanding of an experience. We listen for words that override our fears.

Most importantly, we listen for what we don’t know.

The readings I give to people are fundamentally rooted in listening.  I go into a “field” and listen to what is told me or shown to me about the person. I also listen to the energy of the person having the reading.

I started seeing my own past lives by asking a question and listening to what came through.

For yourself, ask your own questions and listen for the answers.

Ask to be shown the source of something.  Ask for what you don’t know.  Ask for truth or insight or understanding.

And then listen with all your senses.
