Letting Go, Part II

From my guide:

You are already that which you seek.  You seek who you are at your core.

You know there is more to you.  Everyone knows there is more to them.  Every single person on this path is seeking who they really are at their core.

The core of you is that which is connected with the Divine.  You are always connected with the Divine.  You can feel this in your bones.  God, Source, is not in a book.  Source is inside of you.

Your core is connected to Source.  Your core is aligned with Source.  Your core is Source.

You are a fractal of Source.  The whole is found in the partial.

A part of you knows this.  Perhaps consciously, perhaps unconsciously.  This is the reason you go within; it’s what you are seeking.

You are a fractal of Source. Yet you have a thousand reasons why you believe this is not so—all the rules, customs, stories and thoughts you have accumulated lifetime upon lifetime.  Beliefs that you need to behave a certain way, or that you need to work in a particular profession, or you need to say specific words, or you must raise your children as you were raised.

You are deeply, deeply embedded within multiple overlays, multiple social constructs.  These overlays often tell you that you are wrong, you do not fit in, or you must acquiesce to another.  In fact, much of your society is built on others telling you you are wrong so they can hold power over you.

Yet inside, you question these constructs and what others tell you.  And you seek the truth about yourself, who you really are.

Imagine the overlays and constructs to be a large cloak wrapped around you.  This cloak protects you; it keeps you warm and safe from the elements.  Cloaks are normal. Everyone around you has worn theirs since they were born, just like you.

What if one beautiful warm day you can’t help but feel the cloak is too heavy and too tight.  You wonder what it would be like to feel the sun without a cloak.  To be in this world without the heavy overlay.

The cloak has been intricately woven over many, many lifetimes and is tightly fitted to you. Yet you’ve outgrown it.  You’ve emerged more and more into yourself.  The expansion causes the cloak to no longer fit as it once did. The challenge, though, is that you can’t just let the whole cloak fall away at once.  It can only be released bit by bit, thread by thread.

Letting go on the spiritual path is removing each thread, one at a time, to release yourself from the overlays that bind you.  Experiencing the unveiling of yourself.  Layer by layer, thread by thread, while trusting that you will somehow be ok.  Even when you have no idea how.

Often, the act of letting go happens when you experience something painful.  A relationship that doesn’t fit anymore.  You can no longer be in the closet.  You can no longer deny you are an artist. You can’t force yourself to walk into the office one more day. You can’t ignore the health issues any longer.

In essence, the relationship, job, identity, etc. is an overlay that you agreed to.  But what happens if it doesn’t fit any longer? When the cloak is too tight?

You look for the thread first—the belief that is coming up for exploration.  “Help me to understand this differently” is a great question when you’re struggling to see something.

“Understanding differently” is opening the door to another perspective, perhaps one that speaks to you from your core.  Remember, you’re always seeking to get (back) to core.  You’re hardwired to get to core.

You are hardwired to be in alignment with Source.
