Gratitude for Those Who Have Led the Way

I received my first reading in the early 90’s, not realizing it was the first step on the spiritual path.  I was 33 years old and in a difficult personal relationship that I sought to better understand and deal with.  Am noting to myself that I can now write this without an emotional attachment, but believe me, at the time I was incredibly anxious, hurt and lost.

This was early, early internet and esoteric information primarily still came from books, private teachings or someone knowing someone.  A few years later I made the commitment to the path (again-I didn’t know it at the time; more on this in later writings).  Sites and materials were coming online and I started regularly reading whatever was made available by other people ahead of me on the path who were bravely putting themselves out there through live-streamed channelings, blog posts, newsletters and articles. Yes, there were also some crazies, but you realize this and gravitate over time to people with whom you resonate.  It’s a process.

The process evolved into spending an hour or two online, every morning, to read postings and teachings, and occasionally head down a spiritual rabbit hole.  I continue this practice to this day, pretty much every single morning.  It’s how I connect with Spirit as well as ground myself at the start of the day.

This first posting of 2023 is dedicated to all these people who have so generously offered wisdom, integrity, insight and profound kindness on behalf of the greater whole.  You have made a difference for thousands of us.  We have been able to do what we needed to do because of your courage and wisdom.

This is a lovely prayer spoken by Krishna Das as he closes out his kirtans:

"If we know anything about a path at all, it's only because of the Great ones that have gone before us. Out of their love and kindness, they have left some footprints for us to follow. So, in the same way that they wish for us, we wish that all beings everywhere, including ourselves, be safe, be happy, have good health, and enough to eat. And may we all live at ease of heart with whatever comes to us in life."
