Healing
This summer has been one of healing. I am now 10 weeks out from a ruptured bakers cyst behind a knee. The knee is beginning to feel (mostly) functional again. There are still some movements that snag me but I can tell a corner has been turned.
The 10-week span has included looking at emotions/images/thoughts/memories that swirled around the pain. Past life, current life and future life issues all seemed to be associated with the injury. Sessions with a massage therapist and an acupuncturist, both of whom include energy work in their treatments, have been extremely helpful.
None of us goes through life without pain and injury. It’s just part of the deal. And every instance isn’t tied to a spiritual lesson, sometimes crap just happens. Yet, when you know deep inside there’s something more to the experience, give yourself the gift of allowing the process to fully occur and see what’s there.
Healing happens over time. With time.
It’s not something you can force, cajole, barter or buy.
Healing will not happen how you think it will or should.
Whether physical, mental, emotional or spiritual, healing will happen in and of its own accord.
Yes, there are steps you can take to prompt and facilitate healing. Rest, nurturing foods, body work, therapy, being in nature and medicines are all impactful responses.
There is another aspect to healing that must be embraced as well—the allowance of time.
A length of time, a span of time, is embedded within the healing process for a reason.
Healing is a form of alchemy. You will experience some sort of transmutation as part of the process and will not be the same person coming out of the experience as you were at the beginning. Transmutation is not tied to a clock; it’s tied to energy.
Alchemy has long been defined as the transmutation of base metals into gold.
Trust that you, too, are gold. Trust your own voice when considering how to best respond to the injury. Trust there will be gifts in the healing journey. Trust that you will be forever changed on the other side of the experience.
